I think one of the things I've always loved about writing assignments, which is different from a math test, is people can actually take time to think about them. The fact that now we're going to have even long essays written in a limited window of time just makes me sad. But again, maybe you're over-indexing on writing quality, and the thought comes out more. So this is maybe for us to be more thoughtful in the classroom. Maybe we move more towards active learning, which is better anyway, than giving pure lectures.
