Asia Pacific Airlines - The New Year's Challenge

Asia Pacific is often used as a geographic grouping but in fact it's a collection of many different nations. The change in passenger numbers over the last six to eight months is closely linked to when each country or region has lifted its travel restrictions. Airlines have taken a disciplined approach to managing capacity, building and keeping load factors profitable before adding more seats. It was surprising to see in Australia that the competition regulator warned the big airlines like Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar not to keep ticket prices high by constraining capacity.
