The Relationship Between Borders and Sex Work
There's so many moments in terms of the history of the policing and the punishment of same-sex acts, shall we say, where as a sort of double movement. And often that means that people are being punished in even greater numbers. A much kind of vaunted slides towards progress in terms of gay marriage is also twinned with much more rigorous policing of queer kinship structures when there is a border in the way of them. But it's important to remember that these discourses of the state are kind of like two-directional: migrants and asylum seekers, you know, are at once like a threat to queer people but if they are themselves queer, not queer enough.
