How Important Is a Tie Up Later List?

A tie up later list keeps track of explanations that the writer has temporarily and deliberately withheld. Charles Dickens made such a list calling it general mens for working the story round where he listed quote the strings he needs to pull together. A novel can take a long time to write and we may have forgotten some things as we progress through the writing. This list prevents unresolved plot points and foreshadowing that leads nowhere.
