Hadoop - The Go Slow Command by a Factor of 50 or 100

Cloudera Hortonworks and Facebook are all writing or have written Hive implementations that get rid of the Hadoop layer completely. Cloudera has a system called Impala that's out in the market now. Impala is an implementation of Hive that does not use the middle piece, the map reduced piece at all because it's a problem. So I expect the traditional data warehouse vendors will still cream these guys in terms of performance.
