The Importance of Walls in the Republican Party
When I ran for US Senate in 2010, people were asking me about my support for the wall. This is long before Trump got elected, promising to build a wall. My main opposition was that if we eventually did build a real wall, it was also capable of keeping the Americans in. That's what I was afraid of, because when countries get very oppressive, people try to escape. It's no paradise until you have to live with it.
