Is the Royal Family a Drain on the Economy?

Is the royal family that big a drain on our economy? That's one of the arguments. I think every most people in the UK were quite happy about the Jubilee because it gave them two days off work. And if we hadn't had two holidays, I think most many people would have been really pissed off with the royal family actually. But we got two days off. So it's great, you know. People seem to like the royals these days because they seem to be modernizing quite a lot. For example, Kate Middleton is not of royal descent. She's not a royal unlike Diana who was connected to the royal family.
