The Importance of Sociology in Growth
I think I'm not an economist, but I think the IMS is probably lowballing that. And then we have a lot of debate over whether sociological or economic approaches are better for understanding growth. My own feeling is that if you want to know what inflation will be in quarter two of this year, it talked to an economist. If you want to knows the long term developmental trajectory of a country, I think talk to a development sociologist. The real question is what is the what level of economy is commensurate with the society you have? He used that approach most famously in studying China in 2011.
