i have a ritual of turning away anything that coun be a distraction, and saying i'm going to do nothing but focus on and think about the problem in front of me right now. This also actually reminds me a a practice that i or a kind of pattern that i picked up from the academic world. The pattern in aca academia is much more kind of spread out. Because it's not just external distractions, it its a your own mind is a source of distraction.
