The Hero and the Saint
Rousseau says that the hero has a unique strength of soul. For the saint, he gives the example of an unwed daughter who basically sacrifices her life prospects for the sake of staying and taking care of her father by his bedside. That would be kind of an example of saintly action, self-sacrifice. Or on the higher end of heroic action, we get a soldier who goes way beyond what any commander can ask of a soldier.
