Charlemagne's Admonitio Generalis
Charlemagne was chosen by god to revive the glories of the roman empire in the west. He instituted wide ranging law reform in favor of christianity. For his efforts, the pope would crown him the first holy roman emperor. Yet as we have seen, devotion to jesus christ is no guarantee of following his melody lines. Charlemagne felt that it was his duty to bring salvation wherever god gave him dominion.
