The mind, even in Samadhi, does not actually see, realize, objectify you the Self. The only way it could do anything like that is by the help of a name and form. That is why the deity meditation is there. You know Shiva, Kali, Krishna, but without the name and form, the pure Self itself, which is what Advaita Vedanta seeks to realize,. That can never be objectified By the mind.
