Even when people are donating to charities, so the money is pro socially spent on someone they don't meet, this too can really have an effect on people's happiness. It seems to the lower level, predict higher levels of happiness, and then it tapers off. And I think part of that has to do with this hedonic adaptation. We buy more for ourselves and then expect more. But what we're spending money on others, we can see this positive impact we're having on other people. The short answer is yes.
