Accepting Reality Can Lead to Meaning Making

I think it's important to say that what needs to be accepted if you are to practice the skill is reality as it is in this moment. And so for me, even though obviously the main positive outcome was the absence of pain once I got the surgery, it really made me interested and excited about working with clients who experience chronic pain. "This is a whole area of clinical work that I feel like I can relate to these clients because of what I went through," she says.
