Tissue contrast imaging can give you a certain French view of the pleura. It's really differentiating lung abscess versus pearl collection, which can sometimes be tough to do just on a standard radiograph. The classic teaching is that if you have a hypoagtifusion on ultrasound, that could be a transivate or an exivate. Once I start seeing septations, that is where the fluid is becoming more complicated and that will get into your treatment decision algorithm.
