James Fortin's Journey to Philadelphia

James Fortin was captured in 1782 and spent seven or eight months aboard the HMS Jersey. After his release, he walked all the way back to Philadelphia making a stop in Trenton, New Jersey for some respite. He soon thereafter, he apprentices himself to his father's former employer, that sale maker who I mentioned. James Fortin becomes the owner of this sale making business and owns that business from 1798 until his death in 1842.
