The andertals were doing things like decorating their bodies with bird feathers, with pigment. They made jewelry from animal teeth, from shells. There's an amazing discovery in Croatia of eagle talons that have been modified so that they could have been strung together to be worn as a bracelet or a necklace. And these are all the kinds of things that for a long time people thought that only homo sapiens did.
