Are You Giving in All Things Being Equal?
R we have problems with ourselves psychologically. If we did understand ourselves, there's no way we would do these horrible things. At least it's looks like an empirical argument. But that implies that we can't just descriptively or empirically get at the good. So then how do we know what the good is? Then we certainly don't know it in the way that mill says we know it. People are driven by lots of other things. I mean, look at all the that people cause themselves. And so if you're going to give an analysis of the way people actually treat each other in this way, it's because they just don't see that there are any better possibilities.
