The History of Unkindness

Bentham was unkind to people who got pleasure bout being unkind. He became disillusioned with that, starting off thinking he'd just be able to persuade them to throw out the common law and adopt his utilitarian law code. And then he had to kind of realize whall even people in government might have their own sinister interests. That actually led him to democracy.
