The Effects of Fructose on Alzheimer's Disease

When we give fructose to animals, we inhibit AMP kinase. And so what happens is fructose lowers the ATP in the cell through all these pathways. We actually found that uric acid inhibits AMP Kinase as well. So it drops the energy in the cell. That is the foraging signal. One of the earliest signs of Alzheimer's is increased food intake in obesity.
