Introduction

Nightmass are the source of much of the horror we see in stories, myths and movies. They arouse fear, anxiety, agony, embarrassment, melancholy or great displeasure. Some nightmares are so memorable that they colour the experience of our lives for years. The majority of nightmares represent opportunities for personal healing through much-needed emotional release. If one focuses on pathology rather than on the symbolic meaning of a nightmare, a valuable opportunity is lost.
