In ambient mesh, each client does the load balancing to decide which server to send traffic to. In this new model with the way point proxies, it does feel a lot more like how load balancing used to be. But one of the things that was bought up as an advantage of side caus when they first launched, was the idea that this was distributed. How do we deal with what happens when a way point fails?
