Leonardo's Apprenticeship in Florence

When Leonardo first came to Florence as a young man, he stepped right into the middle of all of this. His father shows some of his drawings to a notable local artist named Andrea Del Verrocchio. Verrocchio is very impressed by what he sees and takes the boy on as an apprentice at age 17. He later wrote, drawing in company is much better than drawing alone.
