The reasons the oceans are noisy now is just that, where they used perhaps a hundred years ago to be a very small number of large trawlers. The boom of their engines disturbs the water for a mile around. Also invasive fishing, where line caught tuna often sounds like it's just a man on a pier. These are things that can change, and I hope on my most hopeful days will change.
