Supposing You Had Speaked of the Romantic Movement

In the sixteenth century, say, you had a conversation with by engaged in the great religious wars which tore europe apart. You would have found that common sense moderation was very far from their thoughts. What people admired was wholeheartedness, sincerity, purity of soul,. ability and readiness to dedicate yourself for your ideal no matter what it was - even martyrdom. Such a sentiment would avebe any one who really knew, supposed thimself to know the truth. But they are so sincere, they die so readily for thour cause. One must yield a certain meed of admiration for the moral dignity and sublimity of peoplewhoare prepared to do that.
