Some scientists hope that a theory of everything will tell us why there's something rather than nothing. I've never really understood why physicists took it seriously, but that's been the hope going back to the 80s and 90s. Noam Chomsky is definitely one of the most. brilliant people ever lived. There are some people who are so intelligent, they seem like they're not entirely human. Ed Witten is that way a little bit. Francis Crick was brilliant, but he was kind of like a good guy at the same time. Just incredibly smart. But Noam Chomsky, there's something weird about him.
