National Lampoon, SNL and the groundlings were responsible for just about everything good that came out of the 70s comedy-wise. The screenplay had a gay sex scene in it to see if anybody was actually reading it because there was a year when Casserock wouldn't buy it. Rob Williams was the one who insisted on the L Street bar because they went there and they got mobbed and he loved the energy. He also ad-libbed the scene about his wife farting. That's why Matt Damon was laughing so hard. It came out of nowhere. Chris Ryan: "I think all of those people are excited. They're great"
