I think once you show that the emperor was in fact not wearing any clothes on this particular occasion, people will examine the emperor's investments every time they come out. All of a sudden, a bunch of the other stuff that they're trying to sell may also come up for a more serious examination. The wonderful book that I would always recommend people read on this issue that has a lot of relevance for today is Vakov Havel's "The Power of the Powerless"
