Is the Fed Going to Do a Different Form of QE?
The central bank ledger software system would allow the Fed to take deposits from banks and put them on its own balance sheet. This could be used in a crisis, like COVID when rates were at zero but government intervention saved the day. The idea is that instead of buying Treasuries or mortgage backed securities, they'd do QE on the liability side rather than the asset side.
