The Secrets of Bonobo Females

Bonobo females have what we call swelling. They get big in pink and it actually indicates, hey, I'm ovulating. In chimpanzees, this is very accurate to when they're actually ovulating. And then there's an actual opportunity to get pregnant. Bonobos have much less fidelity around the matching of the swelling and their ovulation. So only about 40% of the time is they're swelling actually matching when they're ovulating.
