Hawkes Bay is the first region to reach a cost sharing deal with councils. It will help rebuild transport infrastructure and provide $70 million in flood protection for wide ore. But there are still hundreds of homes across Hawkes Bay, Tied Arfati and Auckland with category three status meaning owners will be offered a buyout option.
