The Power of Mentorship
Grant Morrison: My mom introduced me to crime fiction through her bookshelves. I was a teenager in the 90s, when Walter Moseley and Barbara Nealey came out. By the time I was like in the 2000s, most of them weren't publishing anymore for a variety of reasons. But just knowing, seeing those books when I was in my formative years really gave me the confidence to say that, oh, maybe one day that could be me because there's another black woman and she did it too.
