In 322 b c, chanakya and chandra gupta invaded the nanda territory with their army of supporters. They captured the capital of patali putra and overthrew the nanda emperor. Chanakya saw him playing a war game with his friends and recognized his strategic talent. So he took him on as kind of student and protege. Took him far to the west to the town of taxila, up the far upper reaches of the indis. And he entered chandra Gupta and prepared him for war and rulership.
