Do We Love the Lord?
We're not thinking of christ when we do, say, a proper work of mercy. A, and we may, in fact, do it because it feels good to us to do it. So why did dorothy day leave her common law marriage and take her daughter, you knowr to live alone? Even though it hurt at one level very, very deeply, because it felt good to live in conformity with the will of god. That felt even better than it felt bad to, you know, break with the natural love for life.
