The Free Writer Problem
Open source is very much a kind of public goods problem. A lot of these pieces of software are written by like one person. And it's the equivalent of, like, if an entire country was basely being fed by like one farmer. The same kind of prolemt basically is done on a much grander scale with the climate change problem. We have to be able to do these things in a sustainable way, otherwise we t pit this against each other. Most governments spend milliion dollars every year on international research and development. But most don't seem generally keen on contributing back to open sor softo i seem keen on taking.
