I left school in the ninth grade, i lived my twenties in incredible poverty. I would steal vegetables from people's gardens just to eat. And i never imagined that i could make money dn as a poet. But things started to change in my early thirties, when my first book came out. It got a, it was reviewed quite a bit. The second book even reviewed in the san francisco chronicle. Then i started being written about by influential critics and anthologized like that. So i thought, the william croles williams anthology from university of iowa, that was, that felt. strange.
