Planetary Mine, Territories of Extraction Under Late Capitalism by Martin Arboleda
Mortgage banks were engaging in what activist called fast foreclosure, a way to capture fees on the front end of a real estate dill. The mortgage banks get a fee for originating a loan, and then capturing money on the back end of the dill with clothes and costs. This book rethinks uneven geographical development in the era of supply chain capitalism. It argues that extraction entails much more than the mere spatiality of mine shafts and pits.
