Wendy brown is a professor of political science at the university of california berkeley. Her book, in the ruins of neo liberalism, the rise of anti democratic politics in the west has been called 'democracy american style' She says it's hard for us to figure out what we mean by democracy apart from markets and property right. The idea that the majority should rule would look strange to the greeks too she says.
