Is the GST a Central Realizing Force?
The total pension bill according to some estimates of all the states taken together for 2021-22 is estimated to be around Rs. 4 trillion which is like 25% of their tax revenues. Some put this figure 1, 4th or 25% is actually exaggerated. The number itself that is being shown in the media is an exaggerated figure. Instead of expenditure versus expenditure, I would say the debate should be expenditure versus revenue.
