Episode 25 - Furosemide
The Curious Clinicians
00:00
Is Furosemide a Venodilator?
Furosemide has been studied in dyspnea palliation for cancer patients. And there may be multiple mechanisms going on as to why it's happening. There might be some something with J receptor modulation and signaling from those receptors. But if we think about it, if your furosemide increases prostaglandin activity, what should it do to bronchial tone when given in inhaled formulations? I love this question because much, much like the intern picking the furoSemide dose, it's like I've got a 50% shot and then we'll find out either way.
