When you're at this kind of low temperature, my understanding is that like almost no reactions are taking place. It's almost like time is frozen. Now going back to the question of keeping a body cold, my guess is that people's intuition about temperature is actually way off because we're not used to experiencing temperatures or anywhere close to this cold as we're talking about here.
