The Myth of Distraction
We're typically less resilient when we try to smother, um, not so positive situations with positivity. And ultimately what we're doing is we're multitasking with our feelings instead of dealing with the task at hand. We as humans employ a variety of distraction techniques in order to distract ourselves from other distractions such as emotional discomfort and our own thoughts that we don't like. So it's essentially, well, if I think about this, then I won't worry about this type of techniques.
