The city we think was probably Troy was destroyed not once but twice. It was around 1180 BC in connection with the events that we call the Bronze Age collapse. Hittite texts tell us of a brewing conflict between the Hittites and a King of Achiawa. The most likely explanation is that there were multiple conflicts involving Misonians and the people of Troisius.
