The Last Days of Falling Leaves

i met the family, mother, father, two sisters, aged 20 and 23, two brothers, aged 18 and seven. They gave me a warm welcome and helped me get as comfortable as one could get after a brutal 16 hour flight. After that day's whirlwind of activity, it felt eerily quiet, much quieter than that place should have been. I ended up chalking my paranoia to the anxiety of meeting the family and having to fumble my way through my first less than stellar conversation in german. However, i would later learn that it's best to trust one's gut in the face of uncertainty. This will become relevant later on.
