Cowalas took a strong stanc on messmates stringy bark. They would literally rather die than eat it. When this population got really, really high in abundance and they ate all of the manor gum, they didn't start eating messmate. And so we looked at this and went, why are these koalas starving, and yet other bunch of koalas are sitting over here munching on the messmate quite happily?
