The Aristotelian Approach to Soul and Body
In speaking of the body as a kind of instrument, some people who are familiar with the Catholic conversation to whatever degree or extent they'll have in mind. St. John Paul II's use of the personalistic norm and it's theology of the body is this idea that you can't treat humans as means but as ends. But I would say that thinking about parts or aspects of our humanity as parts that are supposed to serve an integrated humanity, that serve the life and flourishing of the person, I think that that's wholesome.
