Physicists have to suppress folk notions in order to do well on the formal academic physics or biology. And if you become very skilled in a particular area, then the academic knowledge becomes kind of the iromaric way of understanding things. I its related to that a number of people have come up with that idea and actually study the concurrence of these intuitive ideas and Academic ideas. They do compete with one another.
