Surfing and Controlling the Breakout
This chapter discusses the concept of 'surfing' in hockey, which refers to the movement of the weak side defensemen towards the top of the circle in the offensive zone. By doing so, the defensemen can better define the high slot and be positioned to support their partner. Surfing allows the defensemen to be gapped properly and control the opponent's ability to break out.
