The History of Macular Degeneration

In 1874, the first cases of macular degeneration were ever even described. By 1994, it was estimated that 15 million Americans were affected. Today, there's around 26 million Americans affected and 196 million people worldwide. So what is the common prescription for someone who comes in with macular degenerated eyes? And what is the answer? Like I mean, maybe you have different prescriptions or something like that. It's almost as if we're giving too much credit to genetics because they're predisposed.
