Utilitarianism Under Derek Parfett

Derek Parfett has more or less eliminated most of the distinctive things that came into it through Bentham. Utilitarians now say, well, pleasure and pain is of course an important part of what's good, but it's not all of it. And many of them do think that to some degree rules and principles are important. Rules and principles which where would they come out of in practice in real life oftentimes rules come down to us from politics.
